I started crafting this as a Substack note response. Then I decided I wanted it to live longer than just a temporary “note" on this app. I want to make it part of my portfolio as a writer. Warnings here marked, and well.
Update occurred on Friday the 24th and I'll be including that info at the bottom.
In a move from House Republicans, a long shot measure was introduced to allow Trump to seek a third term. (I don't think they actually have to do that in the first place because there's nothing that keeps a sitting president from refusal to exit the office as far as I've found, but I am no legal scholar. Anyone who is feel free to weigh in.) And in response to this measure, I'm seeing a lot of this “what's good for the goose has to be good for the gander” kind of thinking and then a bit of glee as they start pondering over which Democrat could run again.. Take
I'm a fan of Mr. Snell here. Follow a lot of his content. He's usually pretty on the nose.
Since the inauguration, I know the way I view everything has changed. Many of us have come to harsh realities. So now where a man was once usually on the target…
… Is now coming across as sitting very much in privilege. Not having the same sense of danger as the rest of us do. Mr. Snell sits atop two structures of power— and by all metrics— definitely sits atop when we start talking about social caste class systems, like financial hierarchies.
He has an impressive silver spoon resume. I like that one of the insiders is speaking truth to power on their own community(Mafia).
However, I never trust those who have never and can never know the real danger that people in marginalized groups like myself exist in every moment of every day.. From the time we're born to the day we die. In women's cases, from our conception were never safe..
First off I'd like to address the fact that we're probably never ever going to get another free and fair election again and this last one certainly wasn't one of those either.. I deeply question the 2020 and the 2016 elections as having had no interference whatsoever. That all the people were represented as they should have been.. I don't think whatever occurred during this election was the first attempt.
My problem outside of no more free and fair elections…is the very thought of voting for a Democrat again. I'm not Republican. I'm not Democrat. I'm far left. I will not call myself a communist because that's not what I am. I'm a humanist. Flat out. Nobody consented to be born: therefore we all should have everything we need—no matter what our condition or our station in life. To not merely survive but THRIVE. Thinks like food, clothing, shelter, fresh and clean running water, UBI and universal healthcare as human rights.. And that's the minimum. There is so much more we could have. Now to address and respond to Tristan in the way I was going to in the note:

Obama?? A third term?? If they don’t explicitly bar Trump’s biggest pressure point with no justification(rule book in bin now).. Considering the Democrats sat back and did nothing in the hours leading up to the inauguration…After we all heard Trump say that the election was rigged in his favor…Jasmine Crockett was one of the first I saw say anything about it publicly.. I thought I would get more traction..
Mr. Snell: My mind was filled with visions of Trump walking up to the lectern only to be put in handcuffs right there by his Secret Service…along with everybody else that was present with him in the first few rows of the inauguration…And then the Secret Service pulling their sidearms and doing what historically has always been done to traitors to our country.
As for that dream and it's conclusion…Well, if it were a wet dream, it was the equivalent of edging to Vivek. Disappointment..
Not to mention the neglect in utilizing the Enforcement acts of 1870 and 1871 or any number of tools that the progressives had against Trump and his backers. Any action could have and should have been taken once the conservative promise and P25 had been released to keep it from being realized for its backers able to recoup. Nazism will always survive if we don't do what we need to do.. and take it as far as we need to…
We now know but the Democrat’s impotence was actually weaponized incompetence.
The thought of voting Dem as the obvious choice is met with real resistance now. I was already having swallow that pill with a spoonful of sugar every election… While watching Democrats shift with the Overton window further right for the right. Dems are at best complicit and at worst co-conspirators..
Also who really thinks we're ever going to get a free and fair election ever again?? Seriously is anybody on the left still that naive?

That was my original response. Now we move on to the update because I figured they were going to do something like this.
Alas, No Obama.. So can we start keeping our eyes on the prize? Also…
I’d like to note that this is setup suspiciously like a reward for bad performance…“Can’t get two consecutive terms, here’s a third”… Definitely not merit based with a failure in between terms..….
I don’t want to be the dasher of dreams, and I know my warmth may seem gone. It’s to regulate myself and keep a cooler head after 3 FUCKING YEARS GETTING CALLED CRAZY, FEARMONGER.. THE DEATH THREATS AND RAPE THREATS… I didn’t fuck around..
I will always be helpful and I will do my damnedest to help everyone through.. But I will not hand hold or be fucking demure. The Whole class project is over. The flunkies have to catch up or fend for themselves… It’s the focus and study groups now. Sparing resources for the long and arduous journey ahead.

*IF* the constitution survives this there’s no way that they will get the amendment because you’re not going to get 38 states to agree to this, +2/3 of both houses of Congress. That’s the question does the constitution survive?
